For those that have followed Evanna's journey, you know we've always aimed to make her life as full as we can, whether that is fighting insurance for specific accessories for her wheelchair to allow her to go more places, or finding additional gear out-of-pocket to allow her to go camping with us, or changing therapists or trying different treatments. There is a electrical spinal stimulation therapy that began only a handful of years ago that is showing amazing results in kids with spina bifida, including increased circulation, increase sensation, increased movement, increased strength, and some even regaining some level of bladder control. We've seen before/after videos within only a couple of months that are simply amazing...including one of a boy we know who gained a great deal of core strength and control (and likely more by now). In short: the electric stimulation demonstrates new nerve growth. And THAT is exciting and life-changing!
