The 2023 season is well underway, and the Boulder Beach side is opening this Saturday, May 27th!
We'll have several ticket giveaways during the season, but wanted to do something a little different for our first one. One of our main focuses will be on accessibility and how Evanna and others who have disabilities enjoy the park. But wanted to take the opportunity this time to also highlight an organization that is very special to Evanna for a multitude of reasons.
The Village Bakery (which just so happens to be ON THE WAY to Silverwood!) is an amazing place where those with special needs or disabilities are accepted, valued, recognized, and learn not only baking skills, but other key life skills. Evanna knew it was different almost instantly and loves visiting there. Cupcakes and hugs help too.
But it's so much more than that. We've personally witnessed some major transformations there. One in particular is a young gal named Lizzie, who is autistic. From I think the first time we came into The Village Bakery, she had an interest in Evanna. At first she hovered, and would take our plates or napkins when we were done, and seemingly not knowing what to say or do. And now? She comes out to greet Evanna when she sees her (one time even in the parking lot). And she freely hugs Evanna, and talks to her.
